The ESA meeting (March 17-19) is at the Eden Resort and Suites (222 Eden Road, Lancaster PA) and our symposium and business meeting is scheduled for March 19 from 8AM till Noon. - This annual meeting will be held in conjunction with the 23rd USDA Interagency Research Forum on Invasive species, January 10-13, 2012 at the Lowes Annapolis Hotel in Annapolis, MD. NE1032 is a multi-state research project intended to enhance cooperation among states in the biological control of arthropod pests and weeds. NE1032 will sponsor a series of research presentations from 8AM to 10AM on Thursday, January 12 and will hold a business meeting with informal discussions over lunch on that day. Research presentations will include: winter moth, swallow-worts, mile-a-minute vine, lily leaf beetle, brown marmorated stink bug, tree of heaven, and multiflora rose. Additional collaborative research will be discussed over lunch. Meeting participants should register for the Interagency Research Forum. - This annual meeting is part of the 2010 Biological Control for Nature Conference. Progress for various ongoing projects will be informally and briefly discussed. NE1032 is a multi-state research project intended to enhance cooperation among states in the biological control of arthropod pests and weeds. A short business meeting will be followed by discussions on several ongoing projects, including hemlock woolly adelgid, invasive tenthredinid leafminers, winter moth, lily leaf beetle, swallow-worts and mile-a-minute vine. This meeting is open to anyone who wishes to attend. Following this meeting, there will be presentations on a biological control project with natural area conservation implications. This series of presentations will be part of the Research Forum with an audience of 200-300.
The NE1032 meeting will continue with a business meeting from noon until 2PM on Thursday in the Board Room. The entire meeting (Tuesday through Friday) is devoted to invasive species and their management - particularly biological control.
Please come prepared to discuss ways in which we can collaborate to improve our biocontrol efforts and give some thought to a meeting venue for next year. (We are considering joining a Garlic Mustard Biocontrol Symposium at Cornell next October, but we could also consider the annual meeting of the Entomological Society of America or possibly returning to Annapolis.)
